ERC branch in Abu Dhabi receives financial donation to support the elderly

ABU DHABI, 18th April, 2018 (WAM) -- The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, branch in Abu Dhabi recently implemented a range of humanitarian and community programmes and activities, as part of its efforts to support vulnerable people, in cooperation with its community services partners.

Under the framework of the "Wud Wa Ihsan" initiative, Mohammed Saeed Al Rumaithi, Director of the ERC Branch in Abu Dhabi, received a financial donation worth AED100,000 from Wahat Al Zaweya, to cover the expenses of the Umrah trips of a group of elderly people.

The donation took place while Al Rumaithi received Anas Atatra, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Wahat Al Zaweya, and Khaldoun Mohammed Saleh, Executive Director of Wahat Al Zaweya, to discuss the possibility of offering assistance and providing medical equipment and prosthetic devices to the elderly.

The branch’s volunteer section, in cooperation with the Emirates House for Consultancy and Training, organised an awareness lecture, titled, "This is What Zayed Loved," about volunteering and its humanitarian goals, with the participation of 14 students from the centre.

The section also participated in the Aoun Award for Community Services for the 2017-2018 school year, which was held at the Aisha bint Abu Bakr School in Abu Dhabi, with the participation of 20 local schools, where its team and the "School Students’ Crescent" concluded the award’s activities.

The section also conducted a first aid session in the training hall of the Ministry of Health, with the attendance of 122 volunteers from the branch, as part of its 2018 training programme.
