NYU Abu Dhabi to host cutting-edge electronic music festival

ABU DHABI, 21st February, 2019 (WAM) -- The Music Programme at New York University Abu Dhabi, NYUAD, has announced its first-ever ElectroFest 2019. Scheduled to take place on 23rd February at The Arts Centre, the electronic music mini-festival will showcase cutting-edge electronic music, video art, sound art, and improvisation.

Open to the public, the festival will welcome international collaborators David Franzon and Laetitia Morais; and faculty from NYUAD including Lecturer of Music Clare Lesser, Adjunct Instructor of Music – Piano David Lesser, and Associate Arts Professor of Music Carlos Guedes.

It will present live performances by jazz pianist and composer Nikolaj Hess; NYUAD Instructor of Music and sound artist Joao Menezes; and NYUAD Lecturer of Visual Arts and Interactive Media Jonny Farrow. ElectroFest 2019 will also feature Pole, a classic of the electroacoustic and improvisatory repertoire by the critically acclaimed composer Karlheinz Stockhausen.

In addition, panel discussions with leading experts exploring current scholarship and creative trends on improvisation with live electronics will take place throughout the duration of the festival.

The Music Programme at NYUAD is committed to educating a new generation of musicians capable of making and thinking about music from transnational and interdisciplinary perspectives. While also enriching the education and experience of all NYUAD students, the programme seeks to foster a vibrant and diverse musical community within the campus.
