ABU DHABI, 30th March, 2021 (WAM) -- In order to enhance the occupational health and safety standards and create a safe work environment in Abu Dhabi Emirate, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport assured its commitment to offer the best practices and standards to ensure the health and safety of workers in the transport sector along with reducing the risk of accidents occurrence in workplaces and sites.

ITC pointed out the importance of cooperation with the and the stakeholders in the public and private sectors to achieve the desired objectives.

ITC indicated that it is important to fully comply with the Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health Requirements issued by ADPHC. ITC as the designated Sector Regulatory Authority (SRA) will supervise the implementation of the standards and the following of the requirements for the occupational safety and health in the transport sector.

Despite the challenges caused by COVID-19, ITC successfully registered 574 entities for the occupational safety and health management system by the end of 2020. Whereas it plans to make the registration processes easier and quicker by developing an online system for the entities to register using ITC’s official website for free.

ITC calls upon companies and entities working in the transport sector to review and examine their occupational safety and health management system along with the related policies and procedures regularly to ensure their effectiveness. ITC also indicated that it will conduct more field inspection visits to ensure the entities' compliance with the occupational safety and health procedures for the sector.
