National Archives launches management system for digital, paper current, intermediate manuscripts

ABU DHABI, 26th June, 2021 (WAM) -- The National Archives (NA), an affiliate of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, has launched an electronic state-of-the-art system for providing best in class services to manage, classify and save digital and print, current and intermediate manuscripts and records as part of its Paper and Electronic Archives Management Policy.

The integrated system for paper and electronic archives management was rolled out during an orientation workshop under the title "Electronic systems for management of digital and paper current and intermediate manuscripts".

Speaking at the workshop, Rashid Hamdash of the NA, said the paper and electronic archives management systems provide a framework for files and documents management system throughout their lifecycle, from production until final archiving or destruction and organise current and intermediate archives according to national and international standards and best practices to ensure maximum benefit from the document, protect NA rights and its stakeholders, and contribute to the development of an information and knowledge management system for decision support.

The experimental stage will start shorty and NA employees will be trained to ensure the smooth performance of the system, he added.

On the benefits of the system, he explained that it will reduce paper procedures, enhance the confidentiality of current and intermediate manuscripts, regulate the classification and destruction of documents, improve the in-house exchange of documents, allow easy, quick and precise access to the documents, follow-up on circulation, distribution and control of copies and provide state-of-the-art electronic document management systems and ensure the conservation of reserve electronic copy over the long term.
