DUBAI, 16th March, 2022 (WAM) -- The International Humanitarian Aid & Development Conference and Exhibition (DIHAD) today launched four new humanitarian and healthcare initiatives in the UAE and worldwide.

Major General Salim Ali Mubarak Al Shamsi, Assist Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Interior for Resources and Support Services, today witnessed the launch of the initiatives in the presence of several officials.

The four new initiatives, FOREVERCARE, International Congress for Health Specialties (ICHS), DIHAD College, and DIHAD Glasshouse, are the latest commendable efforts from the UAE to make significant humanitarian achievements around the world, especially to countries experiencing violence and natural disasters.

The FOREVERCARE Initiative is an annual effort to collect medicines, medical supplies, and pharmaceuticals through partnerships with companies and drug manufacturers and donate them to underdeveloped nations to ensure that every household has the medicine they need. It will provide AED60 million yearly worth of medicines and medical supplies to those nations to achieve a world free of illnesses and fatal diseases.

The International Congress for Health Specialties is a unified global accrediting system for continuous education that helps to train and qualify medical and health professionals across the world. ICHS aims to cover 436 specialties and subspecialties with over 500 cores of professionals to improve the standard when it comes to healthcare professionals and provide a global platform to connect for information, equality, and professional progress.

DIHAD Glasshouse is a sustainable startup programme that helps aspiring humanitarians see their projects come to life. Teams and individuals can apply to the programme through an online portal and present their ideas. A DIHAD Committee then chooses projects with the best sustainable humanitarian ideas, which will then be guided through personal mentoring and receives exclusive access to sponsors and partners through DIHAD.

DIHAD College is the first-ever college to offer an international humanitarian master's programme to empower, promote, and train future humanitarian entrepreneurs with sustainable mindsets while enhancing their skills.

Students enrol into a one-year programme undertaking a total of 60 credit hours, be involved in a practical internship with one of DIHAD's prestigious partners and ultimately submit a thesis paper to graduate with a Master's Degree in Arts for Sustainable Humanitarian Actions.

Major General Mubarak was accompanied by Dr. Hamad Al Sheikh Ahmed Al Shaibani, Director-General of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai; Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Chairman of DIHAD Sustainable Humanitarian Foundation, Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, Roving Ambassador for the GCC; and Gennaro Migliore, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM).

Dr. Al Madani stated, "At DIHAD, we aim to launch humanitarian and community initiatives that include philanthropical messages that transcend geographical borders to reach the various needy and disadvantaged individuals. We are proud to announce that we launched four distinct initiatives based on the principle of caring and good deeds today. They are in line with the UAE's many initiatives, where the country has always been characterised by charitable work and giving through its humanitarian path full of effort and support of others."

The DIHAD Exhibition and Conference completes its 18th edition tomorrow and is organised annually by INDEX Conference and Exhibitions Organisation Est., - a member of INDEX Holding.

The conference is supported by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, the Dubai Future Council on Humanitarian Aid, the Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment, the Emirates Red Crescent, the United Nations, and International Humanitarian City, among others.
