Ajman Chamber discusses economic cooperation with Embassy of Mexico

AJMAN, 18th August, 2022 (WAM) -- Salem Al-Suwaidi, Director-General of the Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), received Luis Alfonso de Alba Góngora, Ambassador of Mexico to the UAE, to discuss economic cooperation and explore trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.

Attended by Mohamed Ali Al Janahi, Executive Director of the Trade Development and International Relations at the ACCI, the meeting is part of the ACCI's efforts to diversify its external partnerships, increase the volume of Ajman's intra-trade, and be proactive in opening new markets for the emirate's products, which aligns with the efforts to enhance the sustainability and growth of the business community, diversify the potential of competitiveness, and create the future of business.

At the beginning of the meeting, Al Suwaidi welcomed the attendees, praised the existing relations between the UAE and Mexico, and explained that the Ajman Chamber seeks to consolidate the trade and investment relations between business owners in Ajman and Mexico. He gave an overview of the components of the Ajman economic sector, including logistical services and a vital geographical location in the middle of the emirates. The meeting also dealt with the vital sectors that provide investment opportunities, especially the industrial sector.

The attendees reviewed the opportunities available to both countries in the fields of food, beverages, textiles, furniture industry, pharmaceuticals, automobile, and agricultural sectors.

Statistics indicate that trade between the UAE and Mexico amounted to AED5.7 billion, growing by 18 percent in 2021 as against 2020. They also show the opportunities for the growth of trade exchange between Ajman and Mexico, at seven percent during the last three years.

The Mexican ambassador expressed his thanks for the warm reception and praised the development of the UAE in general and Ajman in particular in all sectors, especially the economic sector, which is characterised by the momentum of opportunities and significant growth rates. This increases the opportunities for partnership and economic cooperation and raises trade volumes between the two countries.

He gave an overview of the most critical and vital economic sectors in Mexico, calling for the need to organise joint meetings between business owners and participate in exhibitions and events to ensure opening channels for increasing cooperation and exchange of experiences.

The attendees stressed the need to hold joint meetings between the business and trade communities in the two countries according to the fields and the importance of exchanging information and data, since the UAE is a major gateway to the countries of the region and the Middle East, and Mexico is a gateway for national products to enter the "North and South" American markets.
