This digital webinar, which aims to share knowledge, will be organised in collaboration with Masdar, the host of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), a global platform for accelerating sustainable development.
The UN has declared a code red for the climate change crisis and biodiversity loss due to rising global temperatures, highlighting the urgent need for governments, businesses, investors, and communities to adopt more environmentally conscious practices. The next few years will be critical for stabilising damage to ecosystems and working towards their recovery.
Climate change is a core pillar and strategic priority area of the ADSG Strategy for the next five years. This Hiwar session will focus on integrating nature-positive approaches into governance processes, building a business case for nature-based solutions, and providing a global perspective on how companies and governments are prioritising nature in their decision-making.
Over 100 senior sustainability professionals and practitioners across all disciplines and sectors will join this session, which serves as a key platform for ADSG to accelerate knowledge mobilisation and empower various sectors in the emirate to engage and support the delivery of the UAE Government’s agenda to tackle biodiversity loss and reduce carbon emissions by 2050.
The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, adopted by 188 countries in December, has challenged businesses to become "Nature Positive" within the next seven years (by 2030).

The panel of dynamic thought leaders includes Dexter Galvin, Global Director of Corporations and Supply Chain at the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP); Shargiil Bashir, EVP and Chief Sustainability Officer at First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB); Marina Antonopoulou, Director of Climate and Nature Conservation at Emirates Nature-WWF; Cedric Bachellerie, Managing Director at Sustainamics [Session Moderator], and Martin Lok, Executive Director of Capitals Coalition.
