Teaching and Learning Conference 2023 highlights innovative teaching and learning practices

ABU DHABI, 1st May, 2023 (WAM) -- Three leading universities in three different emirates in the United Arab Emirates (UAE): Khalifa University Abu Dhabi (KU), American University of Sharjah ((AUS), and Amity University, Dubai (AU), held today their first joint (annual) conference .

The Teaching and Learning Conference 2023 highlights innovative teaching and learning practices, presents scholarship of teaching and learning projects, and celebrates teaching award winners. This year's conference focuses on inspiring teaching and enriching learning. In addition to the central conference theme, each of the universities will have its own focus:

Khalifa University (KU) will focus on STEM Education by considering how cutting-edge programs and resources can be offered to students and faculty and by reporting on pioneering research in the areas of engineering, science, and technology. KU will also focus on how students can be empowered through reflective practice and experiential learning opportunities.

American University of Sharjah (AUS) will focus on the new trends and innovative approaches in education. New trends and technologies provide us with new opportunities to create innovative learning experiences for our students and leverage research from a variety of disciplines along with imagination and creativity.

Amity University (AU) will focus on Active Learning. The theme of Amity University Dubai is "Student-centered Learning and Engagement," which offers an opportunity for faculty members to present their creative pedagogical strategies for involving and inspiring students in the learning process.

Organisers said the field of education continues to evolve and is as dynamic as it is fundamental to how societies develop over time. From the impact of advanced technologies on teaching strategies to collaboration strategies between educational institutions and private or government entities, to innovations in teaching and learning approaches, there are a myriad of topics that the world of academia can be inspired at this teaching and learning conference 2023.

The high-profile speakers included Dr. Fawaz Hazza Abu Sitta, UNESCO Chair in Anticipatory Systems, UNESCO; Dr. Ahmed Al Shoaibi, Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Services at Khalifa University; and Prof. Fazal Malik. Pro Vice-Chancellor, Amity University Dubai.
