UAE highlights importance of international cooperation at Sixth Indian Ocean Conference

DHAKA,15th May, 2023 (WAM) – Saeed Mubarak Al Hajri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs, participated in the sixth Indian Ocean Conference, which took place under the theme "Peace, Prosperity and Partnership for a Resilient Future.”
In his speech, Al Hajri highlighted that the UAE is keen to work closely with Indian Ocean countries and the international community in order to enhance multilateral cooperation in the field of climate change.

Al Hajri noted that the UAE, as the host country of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), believes in the importance of global cooperation to promote climate action and achieve a sustainable, low-carbon future.
In this regard, he underscored that the UAE remains firmly committed to organising a transparent and inclusive COP28, as the country views climate action as an opportunity to support sustainable growth regionally and internationally.
On the sidelines of the conference, Al Hajri met with Shahriar Alam, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of Bangladesh; Faisal Naseem, Vice President of the Republic of Maldives; and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India, to discuss bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation in various fields of common interest.
