Global Media Congress is platform for fruitful dialogue to achieve coexistence and peace: Nahyan bin Mubarak tells WAM

ABU DHABI, 11th July, 2023 (WAM) -- Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, said that the convening of the second edition of the Global Media Congress (GMC) 2023 underscores the importance of this international gathering.

The congress, scheduled to take place from 14th to 16th November, is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court.

The event will bring together a distinguished elite of media professionals from around the world, engaging in fruitful dialogues aimed at envisioning the media sector's roles in fostering further understanding, coexistence and peace worldwide.

Sheikh Nahyan made these statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) in light of the ongoing preparations for the second edition of the Global Media Congress 2023, organised by the ADNEC Group in partnership with WAM at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

The Minister stated that the convening of this mega event in Abu Dhabi solidifies the UAE's leading position in the media sector under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in enabling media outlets to exercise its important role in advancing society, disseminating knowledge and information in all fields, and building positive relationships between nations and peoples to promote the principles of goodness and communication worldwide.

"I wish that Global Media Congress further success; I hope that media professionals around the world will continue to exercise their important role in seeking the truth and spreading it among people in addition to raising awareness on the importance of striving towards enabling people to lead useful lives," he noted.

He also called upon the media to always be instruments for building societies and bridges for cultural and civilisational encounters worldwide.

The GMC's inaugural edition was a huge success, producing strategic outputs that greatly contribute to shaping the future of the media sector. Seeing a wide turnout of over 200 CEOs and 1,200 media pioneers, specialists, and global influencers representing six continents, the first edition featured more than 30 interactive sessions and over 27 workshops, in which more than 173 international speakers participated.

Additionally, the GMC 2022's accompanying exhibition attracted more than 193 major international media companies from 42 countries worldwide, who gathered to discuss the latest tech solutions in the media sector.
